TITLE: Bear Hunt (or Tiger, Lion, etc.)

STORY SUMMARY: 

This is a participation story.  Leader comes out front and directs audience.  For No Strings Attached, the leader can be the boy or girl puppet on stage.  The puppet(s) act out the action on the stage

 

CRUX OF STORY/LESSON: 

Just for fun.  A way to loosen up a crowd and get them going.

OUTLINE OF STORY:

PROPS / ACTIONS:

Audience repeats everything the leader says and does)

 

  1. We’re going on a bear hunt (repeat)  Let’s us go.

 

·        Leader slaps hands on knees in imitate walking.  Audience follows.

Puppets enter on stage & walk.

 

2.      Oh look (repeat)

What is it? (repeat)

It’s a stream. (repeat)

can’t go around it (repeat)

We gots to go ‘crossed it (repeat)

Lets us go! (repeat)

 

·        Stream prop appears (blue cloth thrown out over stage).

·        Puppets ponder stream, go off stage, return wearing goggles, etc

·        Puppets swim steam

·        Alligator gives chase!

·        Leader “swims” (audience follows)

 

  1. Oh look (repeat)

What is it? (repeat)

It’s a tree. (repeat)

can’t go under it. (repeat)

can’t go through it (repeat)

Gots to go up it! (repeat)

Lets us go! (repeat)

 

·        Stream exits, tree appears.

·        Puppets ponder tree

·        Puppets climb tree (one falls off, one gets a splinter, etc)

·        Leader “climbs” (audience follows)

 

  1. Oh look (repeat)

What is it? (repeat)

It’s a bridge.(repeat)

can’t go under it. (repeat)

can’t go around it (repeat)

Gots to go ‘crossed it! (repeat)

Lets us go! (repeat)

 

·        Tree exits

·        Bridge enters

·        Puppets ponder bridge (look it over, test it to see if it is safe, etc)

·        Puppets cross bridge.

·        Bridge sways, etc.

·        Leader crosses bridge (beats fists on chest) (audience follows).

 

  1. Oh look (repeat)

What is it? (repeat)

It’s a swamp. (repeat)

can’t go under it. (repeat)

can’t go around it (repeat)

Gots to go through it! (repeat)

Lets us go! (repeat)

 

·        Bridge exits, swamp enters

·        Puppets ponder swamp

·        Shake heads “no way!”

·        Puppets cross, lose shoes, chased by alligator again, etc.

·        Leader crosses swamp (make “taffy pull” motions with hands and “squishy” noise (audience follows)

 

  1. Oh look (repeat)

What is it? (repeat)

It’s a cave! (repeat)

can’t go under it. (repeat)

can’t go through it (repeat)

Gots to go in it! (repeat)

Lets us go! (repeat)

Its dark in here (repeat)

I feel something hairy! (repeat)

It’s a bear! (lion, tiger) (repeat)

Run! (repeat)

Back home, shut the door! (repeat)

·        Swamp exits, cave enters.

·        Puppets scared! 

·        Ponder escape

·        Leader prods them back

·        Leader is scared too!

·        Voice gets quieter

·        Enters cave (audience follows)

·        Lights go out!

·        Leader touches head of nearby person (audience follows).  Bear!!

·        Lights return.  Run bear hunt in reverse—puppets and audience—as fast as possible.
