Puppets act out song.  Starts with chorus.  Puppets act out each verse one at a time and pause.  Song picks up and reprises action, then chorus, then puppets dramatize the next verse.

Dad neglects son, who neglects him later in life.

·        Stage blank for opening chorus.

 

·        Wife and Father on opposite sides of stage facing away.

·        Phone prop is held up center stage between them

·        Wife holds baby, asks father when he is going to return

·      Father gives excuses

 

3.      Verse 1

 

·        Dad exits and leaves wife with baby alone on stage.

·        She calls for him, shakes her head, etc.

 

  1. Chorus

 

·        Wife exits, Chorus props enter upper stage in turn.

 

  1. Interlude

 

·        Son follows son onto stage

·        Son thanks dad, pesters him to play ball, keeps following

·        Dad puts son off

·        Son says, “I’m gonna be like him.”

·        Father and son on opposite sides of stage, father is looking away.

·        Father & son exit, Chorus props enter upper stage in turn.

·        Father follows son onto stage

·        Father asks son to stay

·        Son asks for car keys

·        Father and son on opposite sides of stage, son is looking away

·        Son exits, leaves father alone on stage.  Phone prop exits.

·        Father calls for son, walks aimlessly around stage

·        Father puts head down.

·        Father remains center stage, head down.

Son returns, hesitates, hugs his father.
