STORY SUMMARY: 

Use creation of puppets to illustrate the 7-day creation story.  Voice narrates story as puppets and props appear.  There is a narrator voice and a puppeteer voice.

 

CRUX OF STORY/LESSON:

To remind us or illustrate how we are creations of God like puppets are our creation.

OUTLINE OF STORY:

PROPS / ACTIONS:

Voice from behind stage narrates story, Puppeteer is also a backstage voice:

·        In the beginning the stage was dark and there were no sounds of joy.

·        And the puppeteer said, “Turn up the lights”

·        And it was so.  And the puppeteer saw that the light was good.  And the lights came up and the lights came down, the first act.

·        Stage is dark

·        Lower stage lights are turned up.

·        Lower stage lights are turned down.

·        Then the puppeteer said, “Let there be an upper stage and a lower stage and let the lights separate the two stages so stories can be told and so the sounds of joy can be heard”

·        And it was so.  And the puppeteer saw that the stages were good.  And the lights came up and the lights came down, the second act.

·        Stages are dark.

·        Lights come up on upper stage and on lower stage, alternating back and forth.

·        Lower & upper stage lights turn down.

·        And the puppeteer said, “Let there be props of all kinds.  Large props and small props, silly props and serious props.  And let them be for stories and songs that there may be joy.”

·        And it was so.  And the puppeteer saw that the props were good.  And the lights came up and the lights came down, the third act.

·        Stages are dark.

·        Lights come up on upper stage and on lower stage

·        Props begin entering on the upper and lower stages while the puppeteer is speaking.

·        Props can bump and run into each other, etc., as they parade across the stage and exit.

·        All lights go down.

·        And the puppeteer said, “Let there be practice puppets and animal puppets of all kinds.  Lions and octopuses, rabbits and giraffes.  Let them be for skits of all kinds.”

·        And it was so.  And the puppeteer saw that the puppets were good.  And the lights came up and the lights came down, the forth act.

·        Stages are dark.

·        Lights come up on upper stage and on lower stage

·        Puppets begin entering on the upper and lower stages while the puppeteer is speaking.

·        Puppets can bump and run into each other, chase each other, etc., as they parade across the stage and exit

·        All lights go down

·        And the puppeteer said, “Let there be people puppets in our image.  And let them remind us that we, too, are creations who are meant for joy.”

·        And it was so.  And the puppeteer saw that the puppets were good.  And the lights came up and the lights came down, the fifth act.

·        Stages are dark.

·        Lights come up on upper stage and on lower stage

·        Puppets begin entering on the upper and lower stages while the puppeteer is speaking.

·        Puppets can bump and run into each other, chase each other, etc., as they parade across the stage and exit

·        All lights go down

·        And the puppeteer saw all that she had created, the stage and the lights, the props and the puppets.  And she said, “Let there be scripts, and skits; stories and songs, and let the show begin!”

·        And it was so.  And the puppeteer saw that the work was good.  And the lights came up and the lights came down, and the show began!

·        Stages are dark.

·        Lights come up on upper stage and on lower stage

·        Puppets and props begin entering on the upper and lower stages while the puppeteer is speaking.

·        All come together and join in with narrator saying, “and the show began!”

·        All lights go down (begin puppet show)
