STORY SUMMARY: Daniel 6:1-24
Practice puppets act out story of Daniel and the Lion’s Den as a narrator reads it. The narrator can be a puppet or can be a voice from behind the stage.

OUTLINE OF STORY: |

Narrator reads story as practice puppets act it out. ·
There was a king in Babylon named Darius. Darius
likes Daniel very much because Daniel is so kind and wise. ·
Darius chooses Daniel to be a chief ruler in his
kingdom. · This makes other men in the kingdom jealous of Daniel. |
· Lights come up. Darius, Daniel, and Jealous puppets on stage. · King pats Daniel on back and shows him to jealous puppets. · Jealous puppets Huddle together · Daniel exits. |

The men go to Darius and say: 'We have agreed, 0
king, that you should make a law saying that for 30 days no one should pray
to any god or man except to you, 0 king. If anyone disobeys, then he should
be thrown in with the lions.' · Darius thinks it is a good idea, so he puts the law into writing. Now the law cannot be changed. |
· Jealous puppets approach Darius · Darius listens and shakes head in agreement · One jealous puppet exits and quickly returns with large piece of paper which Darius signs. · Darius exits |

When Daniel learns about the law, he goes home and
prays, just as he always has done to God. · The Jealous men are happy because it seems that their plan to get rid of Daniel is working. |
· Daniel enters · Daniel reads law and shakes head · Daniel goes to corner of stage and kneels to pray. · Jealous people clap hands and jump for joy. |

When King Darius learns why these men wanted to
make this law, he is very sorry. ·
He cannot change the law, so he has to give the
command for Daniel to be thrown into the lion's pit. · King Darius tells Daniel: 'I hope that your God, whom you serve, will save you.' |
· Darius enters · The jealous puppets come to him and point to Daniel who is praying. · Darius looks at jealous puppets and shakes his head. · Darius points to Daniel and then to the Lion’s Den. · Darius pats Daniel on the back · Daniel is thrown into the pit by the jealous puppets. · Jealous puppets exit (with high-fives) |

Darius is so upset he can't sleep that night. ·
The next morning he runs to the lions' pit. ·
He cries out: 'Daniel, servant of the living. God! Was the God whom you serve able to save
you from the lions?' ·
'God sent his angel,' Daniel answers, 'and shut the mouths of the lions so that they did
not hurt me.' · The king is very glad. He commands that Daniel be lifted out of the pit. |
· King lays down on stage opposite the lion’s den and tosses and turns · Daniel is in the Lion’s Den o Enter Lion o Angel enters and comes between the lion and Daniel o Angel and lion exit · Darius runs to den · Daniel comes out of pit |

He has the jealous men thrown to the lions. · Then King Darius writes to all the people: 'I command that everyone should respect Daniel's God. He does great miracles. He saved Daniel from being eaten by the lions.' |
· Jealous puppets enter · They are shocked and tremble · The lion comes up from behind and scares them into the pit. Lion rubs tummy and goes into pit. · Darius puts arm around Daniel and shows him to the audience. · Lights go down. |
