STORY SUMMARY: God creates a world of beautiful flowers and creates humans to take care of this garden. The humans, though, destroy God’s flowers and God must redeem them (the flowers and the humans)

OUTLINE OF STORY: |

Part 1 – Narrator begins: · Once long ago, before the world existed, God brooded over the darkness. |
· Lights down on lower stage · Lights on low on upper stage. · God enters upper stage. |
|
· Soon, God knew what he wanted to do. And God created light. |
· God waves · Lights up full on upper & lower stage. |
|
· The light was good, but there was nothing to see… |
· God looks around |
|
· So God created something beautiful to see in the light. God created flowers. · Red flowers, blue flowers, small and large flowers God created them all |
· God waves… · Flowers start appearing all over the lower stage. |
|
· Then God created animals to enjoy his flowers · And the animals came and God was happy |
· Enter butterflies, rabbit, mouse, etc. |
|
· Finally, God wanted to rest and to give his beautiful creation a rest. So God turned down the light of day & gave a lesser light, the moon, to rule the night. |
· Upper and lower stage lights dim. · Blue moon appears · God stretches and leaves stage. · Butterflies, rabbit, mouse, etc., exit. |
|
|
· One frog appears on stage and begins to “ribbet” · Another frog joins · Then another · The fly appears, frogs try to catch it. |
|
|
· Play “Blue Moon” song · Frogs sing song. |
|
· Part II – The Narrator continues: |
|
|
· The next day, God was so full of love that he decided to create humans to enjoy his beautiful flowers. · And God loved the humans so much that he put them in charge of his flowers and told them to take care of them. |
· Lights up full on upper & lower stage · God enters upper stage. · Enter humans on lower (hand puppets) · Humans look up at God and shake their heads in agreement. · Humans begin to water flowers use hoe to take care of them. |

· Soon, however, the humans stopped taking care of God’s garden. · They begin to ignore the flowers and to trample them. · Soon there were very few flowers left in God’s garden and God was sad. |
· Humans trample flowers · Humans use hoe to push flowers aside. · Humans bring up houses to put where flowers were. · Only three flowers are left, on center and two sides of stage. · God exits, light go down on upper stage. |

· All props and puppets exit lower stage except the three flowers. · Play and act out the song, “Where have all the flowers gone? (#44) · All puppets exit |

· Part III – The Narrator continues: |
|
|
· It seemed that the humans had forgotten all about God. But God had not forgotten about humans. · God called his son, and sent him down to earth to bring new flowers. Surely, they would respect his son! |
· Lights up on upper and lower stage · God enters upper stage. · Humans enter lower stage and start to tear up last flower. · Son enters upper stage with God. · God and Son exits upper stage |

· The son came with the good news of God’s love of beauty and of humans. · God’s son gave them flowers |
· Son enters lower stage with flowers · Son gives flowers to people. · People take flowers and look at each other |
|
· But, they destroyed these flowers just like all the others. |
· Humans throw flowers down and stomp on them. |
|
· And they killed God’s son, too. · And they thought that he had gone and all the flowers with him…but guess what? What do you think happened next? |
· Humans attack Son and he exits with them. · Stage is empty · All lights go down. |
|
·
|
· Lights come up on lower stage · Cross full of flowers comes up · Flowers return over the stage. |
|
· What happened? God raised his son from the grave. · Not even death could end the beauty of God’s gift of life. · Each year, the flowers bloom after a long winter. · This reminds of us of Jesus, God’s son, and how God raised him from the dead. |

|
· So, I’ve got something for you. · Each Easter we fill a cross with flowers. Then, we set this cross out in front of the church. to remind the world of God’s love. Here is a flower for each of you to bring to worship on Easter morning. Take it and put it on the cross when you come into worship. Help us tell the whole world how much God loves us. |
· Hand out flowers |

· (Clown puppet enters and offers to teach a song about Jesus’ resurrection to the audience.) |
· Clown puppet enters lower stage. · Clown teaches chorus of the song, “Alelu” to the audience. · Clown sings song and audience joins in on the chorus |

· Narrator thanks audience. |
· All exit · Lights go down. |
