Narrator introduces story · A long time ago, God created the world |
· Light up on lower and upper stage. · God on upper stage · World enters upper stage |
|
· Into this world, God put lots of living things including whom? Humans! |
· World exits. · 2 practice puppets enter lower stage. |
|
· The humans were supposed to be caretakers of God’s world. But things didn’t work out to well. |
· Practice puppets start pushing each other around, fighting, etc. · Puppets exit fighting |
|
· Nothing God did seemed to make things better, so God decided to start over. |
·
|
|
· So what did he do? |
· Slowly, after the audience has time to answer, an ark raises |
|
· That’s right. God sent a flood to cleanse his creation but did it work? |
· Ark exits. · Practice puppets enter & start fighting |
|
· No, so what did God do next? |
· Puppets exit fighting. |
|
· Well, there was another human around by this time. |
· Enter Abraham |
|
· Now listen to what God told Abraham: o Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house · God told Abraham to scram! To get out of Town to leave. Why? |
· God points at Abraham · Abraham moves away and exits. |
|
· Was God sending him away as punishment? Was he still angry with humans and trying to get rid of them? |
· Jail enters lower stage · God shakes head “No.” |
|
· Did God send Abraham away from his home because he was giving up on humans? Was he making room for another of his creations that he would love instead of humans? |
· Jail exits. · Earth enters with “Vacancy” sign. · God shakes head “No.” |

· Then why did God send Abraham away? |
· Exit Earth & Vacancy Sign. |

· Listen to all the words that God told Abraham: o Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. o I will make of you a great nation o And I will bless you and make your name great so that you will be a blessing. o I will bless those who bless you and the one who curses you I will curse o And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. |
· Enter Abraham on lower stage · God talks to Abraham · Abraham bows to listen. |

· What does God want to do? o Hurt us? o Forget us? o Bless us? |
· Abraham shakes head when answer is no. Nods when answer is yes. · God exits · Abraham exits |

· Yes, God want to bless us so God calls Abraham and each of us: o To leave the past behind o To go boldly into life confident that God is guiding us. o And to be a blessing to others · This sets the stage for the whole Bible – God is seeking to bless us. · How do we become a child of Abraham? |
