OUTLINE OF STORY:

PROPS / ACTIONS:

  1. Narrator introduces story of Jonah and the ark (Noah and the whale?), etc.  Proclaims that s/he has researched the story carefully with a team of scholars and is prepared to give a full, accurate account, etc.

·        Narrator (if person) stands beside stage with a large notebook full of papers.  Things keep falling out of notebook while narrator talks.  Narrator fumbles through notebook at various points.

·        Puppet can narrate story from upper stage.

2.      Narrator introduces Jonah as a used car salesman.  (Fumbles through notes, especially after audience objects).  Narrator then introduces Noah (“I mean, Jonah!”) as a prophet.

·        God (practice puppet) enters on upper stage.

·        Jonah enters with car prop.

·        Narrator continues to fumble through his/her notebook.

  1. God came and told Jonah to go to that evil city, Los Vegas (or the local city where troupe is performing, etc.).  Narrator corrects himself and calls city by Ninevah.

·        Los Vegas prop appears on lower stage, opposite Jonah.  Prop turns around to become Ninevah.

  1. Jonah, though, runs away…right?  Right! And goes the sea and jumps on a…

·        Spaceship

·        Submarine

·        Sailing ship!

·        Ninevah prop exits.

·        Spaceship appears center stage.

·        Spaceship exits, Sub appears.

·        Sub exits, Sailing ship appears

·        Jonah boards sailing ship

  1. The ship was caught in a storm. Jonah said to throw him overboard.  He would rather die, than go to Los Vegas…right!, Ninevah.  The crew threw him into the sea.  Then, as Jonah began to sink, he was greeted  by a great, big, huge,

·        Octopus! (or whatever)

·        Dingo?

·        Whale!!

·        Los Vegas prop appears, turns over to Ninevah prop, then exits.

·        Octopus appears, then exits, very indignant.

·        Dingo appears, tells jokes, then exits.

  1. The whale offered him a ride on his back…right!  The whale swallowed him!

·        Whale enters, Jonah gets on his back, then whale swallows Jonah.

  1. Finally, after three days & four doc-tors visits, the whale spits him out

·        Doctor enters, gives advice to whale, exits.

  1. Finally, Jonah went to Ninevah and warned the people.  The people, much to Jonah’s disappointment, repented and were saved.  As bad of a prophet as Jonah was, God was still able to work through him to save the people!

·        Ninevah prop enters.

·        Ninevah people enter and repent

·        Jonah mad!

·        Narrator finishes.

·        Jonah throws things at narrator, they get in a rift.
