OUTLINE OF STORY:

PROPS / ACTIONS:

·        Rich man runs up to Jesus and asks “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

·        Jesus responds, continue with the Biblical dialogue

·        Finally, Jesus tells Rich man that he lacks one thing.  He tells him to “Go, sell all that you have, give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.

·        Jesus on stage

·        Rich man enters and approaches Jesus.

·        Rich man responds hesitantly, “Give everything?  What about…”

o        My Rings?

o        My new clothes?

o        My car?

o        My house?

o        My golf clubs?

o        Etc.

·        To each of these items Jesus says yes.

·        Rich man is finally buried under his possessions and exits.

·        As rich man says each item, it appears in front of him.

·        Eventually, he staggers under the weight and drops out of sight (with a crash).

·        Perhaps have a few things (small and light) fly out from behind the stage as the rich man crashes.

·        Jesus remarks how hard it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

·        Disciples are perplexed.

·        Disciple 1 comments to 2 that he thought that material blessings showed God’s favor.

·        Jesus says, “No, material blessings become a burden which bury us and separate us from God when we will not share them with those in need.”

·        Disciples enter

·             Disciples are still perplexed.  One exits.

·             Jesus looks at woman and the camel and says, “Look, the rich man is like this camel.  He is carrying a big burden on his back.  The Kingdom of heaven is like the needle this woman is sewing with.  A rich person can’t enter God’s Kingdom carrying all his things any more than this camel can fit through the eye of that needle.
