STORY SUMMARY:
Story of Jesus walking on the water in Matthew 14:22-33. The disciples are in a boat when a storm arises. They are frightened. Then they see what they think is a ghost on the water. Peter recognizes Jesus and asks Jesus to call him out onto the water. Jesus does and Peter walks on the water. Still, Peter sees the storm raging around him and begins to sink. Jesus has to rescue Peter. He helps Peter back into the boat. The storm is calmed. The disciples worship Jesus.

STORY/LESSON:
We are challenged to keep our eye on Jesus and not let the storms of life overwhelm us.

· Jesus’ disciples were in a boat when a great storm arose. · The disciples were scared. |
· Enter boat and disciples on lower stage. · Wind enters upper stage opposite Narrator. |

· Disciples see Jesus on walking on water but think he is a ghost. · Peter recognizes Jesus and asks him to call him out. |
· Enter Jesus on lower stage opposite boat. · Peter leaves boat and walks towards Jesus. |
|
· On the water, however, Peter takes his eyes off Jesus and looks at the storm. · Peter begins to sink and calls on Jesus to save him. |
· Peter looks at wind on upper stage and begins to shake and sink. · Jesus has to reach down to save him. |

· Jesus scolds Peter and the disciples for their lack of faith. · The disciples worship Jesus. |
· Jesus and Peter return to the boat. · The disciples bow down before Jesus. · All puppets and props exit. |

· The Narrator asks audience why Peter sank. Briefly discuss keeping eyes on Jesus during the storms of life. |
