TITLE: Pig Goes to Guatemala

STORY SUMMARY: 

This skit was written to support a Heifer Project.  A cow tries to help a pig raise enough money to go to a farm in another place.  Other puppets try to help but the cow asks the audience to make little sacrifices.

Audience is asked to help support Heifer Project.

OUTLINE OF STORY:

PROPS / ACTIONS:

·        Cow (Bovina) puppet introduces pig. 

·        Pig (Gertrude) squeals.

·        Cow translates; Gertrude wants to go to a farm in Guatemala (or wherever) and help.  She needs assistance

·        Gertrude squeals. 

·        Cow translates and explains what Gertrude wants to do.

·        Cow enters lights come up

·        Pig is introduced by cow and enters

·        Pig squeals and cow translates.

·        People puppet #1 has an idea to help and offers to sell his parent’s house.

·        People puppet #1 enters excitedly and says he has an idea.

·        Puppet exits

·        Puppet returns with house and offers to sell his parents house.

·        Puppet remains on stage

·        People puppet #2 has an idea to help and offers to sell her parent’s car.

·        People puppet #2 enters excitedly and says she has an idea.

·        Puppet exits

·        Puppet returns with car and offers to sell it to help.

·        Puppet remains on stage

·        People puppet #3 has an idea to help and offers to sell his baby sister.

 

·        People puppet #3 enters excitedly and says he has an idea.

·        Puppet exits

·        Puppet returns with baby and offers to sell her to help.

·        Puppet remains on stage

·        Bovina (Cow) thanks the puppets for their generosity but says they don’t have to make such big sacrifices to make a big difference.

·        Puppets listen to Bovina then exit stage

·        Bovina asks audience if they would help

o       Kids are asked to break open their piggy banks

§         Gertrude squeals

§         Bovina apologizes

o       Adults are asked to remember Gertrude’s dream when they bring home the bacon

§         Gertrude squeals

§         Bovina apologizes

·        Bovina reminds audience that every little bit helps make a big difference.

·        Bovina & Gertrude on stage

·        Gertrude squeals in horror

·        People puppets return & offer to help.

·        One people puppet has question for Bovina.  Why can she talk but Gertrude can’t?

o       Bovina responds, “Why every­one knows pigs can't talk!”

o       Gertrude shakes head in disgust and grunts.

·        Bovina asks if they’re any more questions.  Another people puppet asks, “Why can’t Gertrude go now?”

o       Bovina responds, “Simple, we will send no swine before its time.”

o       Gertrude squeals.  All groan.

·        People puppets enter

·        Lights go down.  All exit.
