OUTLINE OF STORY:

PROPS / ACTIONS:

·        Adult asks child what is wrong

·        Child says that s/he wants to help at church.  They are talking about sharing our talents and money with the church to help others but s/he can’t help.

·        Adult asks child to explain.

·        Child says that s/he doesn’t have enough money to feed the hungry people they talk about.  S/he can’t do anything, “I’m just a kid!”

·        Puppets enter stage to one side.  Child is sad.

·        Child exclaims, “Ooo, ants!” and wants to step on them.

·        Adult says to wait.  Asks child if s/he feels like the ant, small and weak.

·        Child says “yes”

·        Adult asks how do they survive.

·        Child doesn’t know.

·        Adult asks audience what the ants are doing and converses with them (they are storing food).

·        Adult claims that the food they are carrying is too little even for ants to survive especially in winter when there is no food to collect.

·        Child says, “Yes, but every little bit helps and if they store some of it they’ll have enough for winter…”

·        Ants enter and march across other side of stage from puppets.

·        Ants keep marching to and fro across stage

·        Child says, “Wait a minute”

·        Child returns and says, I don’t have much money, but I do have this (shows 4cent-a-meal can) and explains what it is.  If s/he uses it and everyone one else here uses it, we can save enough to help people who are hungry.  Even s/he has four cents to give.

·        Child exits

·        Child returns with 4 cents-a-meal can

·        Ants keep marching around stage

·        Adult remarks on child’s wisdom and other examples of small, weak things that are wise.

·   The badger is weak but wisely lives in the rocks

·   The locusts have no leader but all fly together and are strong

·   The lizard can be caught but is persistent and lives in the palaces of kings
