STORY SUMMARY: 

Puppets act out song.  Family going to the zoo are on lower stage.  The zoo animals appear on the lower stage.  The zoo animals appear on the upper stage.  As the song progresses, the animals all join the family in the car.

Just for fun.  Also, gets audience involved in singing the chorus

OUTLINE OF STORY:

PROPS / ACTIONS:

1.      Daddy’s taking us to the zoo tomorrow, zoo tomorrow, zoo tomorrow, Daddy’s taking us to the zoo tomor­row, and we can stay all day

·        Car prop along lower stage.

·        Dad in front, child behind

·        Both face to a stage side

 

2.      {Chorus) We’re going to the zoo, zoo, zoo, how about you, you, you, You can come to, to, to.  We’re going to the zoo, zoo, zoo.

·        Child facing audience, waves for them to join

 

3.      See the elephant with the long trunk swinging; great big ears and a long trunk swinging.  Snuffing up the peanuts with the long trunk swinging.  And we can stay all day.

·        Elephant enters upper stage.

·        Throws peanuts into audience.

 

4.      Chorus

 

·        Elephant gets excited, exits upper stage and joins in car on lower.

 

5.      Musical Interlude

·        Child tries to tell dad who is unaware of new passenger

6.      See all the they’re a scritch, scritch, scratching; jumping around and a scritch, scritch, scratching.  Hanging by the long tale…, and we can stay all day.

 

·        Monkey enters upper stage swinging tale and shows off..

 

7.      Chorus

·        Monkey exits and joins car.

8.      There’s a big black bear, he’s a huff, huff-a-puffing. Coats too heavy he’s a huff, huff-a-puffing.  Don’t get too near the he’s a huff, huff-a-puffing or you won’t stay all day!

 

·        Bear enters upper stage & shows off

 

9.      Chorus

·        Bear exits and joins car

 

10. Musical Interlude

·        Child tries to tell dad who is unaware of new passengers

11. Well the seals in the pool all a honk, honk, honking; a catching the fish and a honk, honk, honking.  Little tiny seals all honk, honk, honking, and we can stay all day

 

·        Seal enters upper stage.

·        Fish enters upper stage, seal chases.

·        Fish comes up looks right and left, seal comes up and tags, You’re it!

 

12. Chorus

·        Seal (and fish) exit and join car.

 

13. Well we stayed all day and I’m getting sleep sleep, sleepy.  Sitting in the car getting sleep, sleep, sleepy.  Home already and I’m sleep, sleep sleepy, ‘cause we have stayed all day

·        Kid and animals get sleepy and slouch all over each other.

14. Chorus (We’ve been to the zoo, etc.)

 

·        (Music stops) Dad says “We’re home”  He looks & faints (exits)

15. Mama’s taking us to the zoo…etc

 

·        Mom  enters & says “Let’s go!”

·        (Music starts again)

16. Chorus (2 times)

 

·        All (including dad) join in.
