MORE IDEAS FOR LEADERS

Under part 3 under PLAN, tell the explorers to check out the Discover the Bible Section on the main menu.

1.      Use this section to put the story of David and Goliath on a timeline of David’s life.  Put the events listed in order.

2.      Notice how David recounts events in his past (I Sam. 17:34-37) from which he draws courage.

a.      What are some events in Israel’s history that might give David (and us) courage?

b.      Put these events on David’s timeline.

3.      Use a time line in a bible to locate the life of David.  List the highlights that lead up to the stories of David and the highlights that follow on a time line.  The explorers can take this time line home and illustrate it.  Bring it back to be posted in the computer lab.

During Part 4, explorers could take turns trying to remember the memory verses. They could help each other out when someone gets stuck. Discuss courage and finding courage in God.  The following memory verses can be easily related to the story of David and Goliath and finding courage in God:

1.      I Samuel 17:37a

2.      Psalm 7:10

3.      Proverbs 30:5

4.      I Chronicles 16:11

5.      Ephesians 6:10

Other group activities include the matching game, or the connect the dots game.  Explorers could try to guess what the picture will be as the dots are connected.  This last part can be used if time allows.
