NOAH AND THE ARK
COOKING CENTER
I. OPENING:
1. Allow the Mentors to take roll and offering
2. Welcome - welcome the students -- introduce yourself and ask the children to introduce themselves. (Make sure adults participate)
3.
Have opening prayer:
II. GO OVER MEMORY VERSE: "I am putting a bow in the clouds, it will be a sign of my covenant with the world." (Genesis 9:13)
III. DISCUSS QUESTIONS:
• God is grieved about man's sin.
• God cares for us even as he did Noah.
• God instructs Noah to build the ark out of Cypress wood. Make rooms in the ark and cover it with pitch inside and out. It was to be 450 long -- 75 feet wide. It was to have 3 floors with a door on the side and a window near the top.
• How does God give us instructions today?
• How does God speak to us?
• How does God care for us?
• What was the Covenant God made with Noah?
• When we see the rainbow, does it remind us that the covenant we still have with God?
GRAHAM CRACKER ARK
TO PREPARE PIECES FOR ARK:
Bend
1/2 graham cracker by wrapping in damp paper towel. Place in microwave until
very hot (15-30 seconds.) Remove from microwave and place around plastic cup.
Hold until cool. Remove paper towel and set graham cracker out to dry.
To
cut out door and rounded sections wrap graham cracker in damp paper towel. Heat
in microwave until hot. When you have removed from oven unwrap and cut while
still hot.
MORTAR:
1 /2 CUP PEANUT BUTTER
1 1/2 CUPS XXXX SUGAR
2
TABLESPOONS MARGARINE Beat until well blended. If needed you may add more sugar
or peanut butter.
Begin
by gluing a full graham cracker to a cake board. I used melted chocolate to
hold in place. That way the children can eat everything except the rainbow. On
each side of the floor, using the mortar stand up the back and a front to which
you have cut the door.
Next
place a stack of 5 small pieces graham crackers at each end of bottom, using
mortar to hold everything in place. This helps to support the top deck.
Next
place piece that has rounded end on top of stacked graham crackers. Sample:
Looking from top add 1 /2 graham cracker to hold roof. I used melted chocolate
to make roof . You can make these ahead of time and the chocolate will have set
up.
Decorate
with animal crackers and green coconut for grass. Also I used melted chocolate
to hold a marshmallow at the back of cake board. Place Popsicle stick with
paper rainbow with bible verse written on it. (The only thing children couldn't
eat.)
