LEARNING OUTCOMES:

·         CDrom – Bibleland.com (2 or more copies)

·         CDrom – Crosswords and Word Games (two or more copies)

·         CDrom – The Fall of Jericho (with question editor)

·         CDrom – Adventures with Jonah, Ruth, & Sampson, Interactive Bible for Kids

·         CDrom – Children’s Activity Bible

·         Software – Word games at Camelot

·         Pencils/pens, copies of questions to go with each computer center

 

PLAN:

·         Welcome explorers and review memory verse

·         Divide into two or more groups and check out Ruth’s homepage on BibleLand.com CD.  Give each explorer a question sheet to answer.

·         Explorers use answers to do word games on other computers. 

·         Close in prayer.  Thank God for Ruth and ask that we may have her courage, faithfulness and resourcefulness.

BIBLELAND.COM - Look up Ruth’s homepage under search / people / heroines/

            Ruth.  Answer the following questions as a group. Each explorer can have

            their own sheet to write their answers down on.

 

  1. Ruth’s home country is ________________ (Moab).

 

  1. Ruth married the son of _______________ and  ________________ (Elimelech and Naomi)

 

  1. Ruth went with Naomi to the town of _________________ (Bethlehem)

 

  1. ______________ (Orpah) stayed in Moab.

 

  1. ______________ (Glean) means to harvest grain or other crops left in the field)

 

  1. __________ (Boaz) agreed to marry Ruth when she came to Bethlehem.

 

  1. Ruth went to meet her future husband on the _____________ (threshing) floor.

 

  1. A _________________ (kinsman) is a close relative.

 

  1. The people of Israel were called ________________ (Israelites)

CROSSWORD PUZZLE AND MATCHING CENTERS – Use the answers to Bibleland.com center to make a crossword puzzle and a matching puzzle.  You can set them up as separate centers.  Perhaps, use the load them on the same computers as the Bibleland.com center.  After everyone has done the Bibleland.com center, you can close the center and open the crossword puzzle and matching programs.

 

 

ADVENTURES WITH RUTH – Focus on the story section that deals with Ruth.  Use the following questions.  For each frame of the story the explorers answer one question and look for one of the scavenger hunt items.  Have questions and pencils/pens available.

 

Questions:

1.      Where were Naomi and Elimelech from?  (Bethlehem)  Why did they go to Moab?  (because of a famine)

 

2.      What happened to the husbands of Naomi, Orpah, and Ruth?  (They died)

 

3.      What did Ruth promise to Naomi?  (That she would always stay with her and care for her).

 

4.      What happened to Ruth in Bethlehem?  (She met Boaz, married him, and had a son Obed who become the grandfather of David).

 

Scavenger Hunt

1.      What catches on fire?  (the red box)

 

2.      What turns into a hat?  (the vase)

 

3.      Where is the elephant?  (In the bucket)

 

4.      Who gets kissed?  (Obed)

 

 

THE FALL OF JERICHO – Use the questions and answers for the Bibleland.com center and add about five to ten others.  The programs uses the same questions over and over.  The explorers will have the opportunity to learn the answers to the new questions as they are repeated.  New questions might include:

  1. Why was gleaning important?  (It provided food for orphans and widows who might otherwise starve)
  2. Some people in Bethlehem would have objected to Boaz marrying Ruth because she was _____________ (from another country).
  3. The Bible _______________ (celebrates) the marriage of Ruth and Boaz.
  4. Ruth is famous for her _________________ (all of the above – loyalty, hard work, being the great grandmother of King David).
  5. God ___________ (blessed) the marriage of Ruth and Boaz.
